Kim Douthit Girard, 55, of China Spring, passed away suddenly Monday, Jan. 17, 2011, at a local hospital. Services will be 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 21, at Lake Shore Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Timothy V. Vaverek officiating. Burial will follow at China Spring Cemetery. A Rosary will be recited 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 20, at Lake Shore Funeral Home, 5201 Steinbeck Bend in Waco, with visitation following until 8 p.m.

Karen Kim was born in Waco, Texas, to Lonnie and Marilynn Douthit, and attended LaVega schools. She married Thomas R. Girard on Dec. 23, 1972, in Waco. She was in the sales industry all of her working life, including 18 years with Great Western Directories. Kim was devoted to her family. She adored her grandchildren, and loved to cook and crochet. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Survivors include husband of 38 years, Tommy Girard, of China Spring; sons, Brandon Girard and wife, Jennifer, of Arizona, and Shannon Girard and wife, Michelle, of China Spring; daughter, Celissa Jackson and husband, T.J., of China Spring; grandchildren, Breanna, Logan, Luke, Bryce, Zander, and Halle; parents, Don and Marilynn Sustala, and Lonnie and Linda Douthit, all of China Spring; grandmother, Lola Pearl Douthit, of Bellmead; sisters, Le‡ “Lisa” Black and husband, Roy, of Florida, Celina Fuller and husband, Rodney, of China Spring, Jill Reed and husband, Mike, of Pleasanton, and Laurie McGaugh and husband, Kevin, of China Spring; and numerous relatives and friends.
