Vernon Theo Albert Kroll, 61, of China Spring, passed away Saturday, Jan. 12, 2008, surrounded by his loving wife and children.

Services will be 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bellmead, with the Rev. Walter Albers and the Rev. Joel Boesche officiating. Interment to follow in China Spring Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 14, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Garden Room.

Vernon was born in Riesel, Texas, to the late Walter and Ida Kroll, and he attended Riesel Schools. On Aug. 6, 1965, he married Linda Virginia Burt. During his early career, Vernon managed several Piggly Wiggly food stores in Waco and Robinson. He was an independent paint contractor, and in recent years was co-owner of Kroll Kustom Homes with his son. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, where he served as an usher.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Louis Kroll.

Survivors include his wife, Linda; son, Todd Kroll and wife, Terri, of China Spring; daughter, Krista Gottfried and husband, Mike, of Land O’Lakes, Fla.; grandchildren, Kevin and Katie Kroll and Jillian Kroll-Gottfried; sisters, Gladys Heath and husband, Bobby, of Bryan, Dorothy Nelson, of Riesel, and Alice Bennett, of Marlin; brothers, Walter Kroll, Jr. and wife, Linda, of China Spring, Harold Kroll and wife, Susan, of China Spring, Edward Kroll and wife, Mary, of Waco, and Charles Kroll and wife, Ella Mae, of Bruceville-Eddy; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends who will miss him dearly.
