James D. Nichols, 70, of 1122 Brook, died Thursday at a local hospital.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Connally-Compton Funeral Home Downtown Chapel.  Burial will be at Rosemound Cemetery.

Mr. Nichols was born Jan. 3, 1915, in Arkansas.  He was a retired nurses’s aide, having worked at the Veterans Administration Medical Center.  He was an Army veteran of World War II.  Mr. Nichols was member of Victory Temple Assembly of God Church.

Survivors include his wife Helen Nichols; a son, Douglas Nichols of Lewisville; two daughters, Betty Charlton of Houston and Joyce Sanders of Waco; three sisters, Erma Dobbs of Melissa, Mrs. E. L. Cowan of Cross Plains and Lottie Rose of Waco; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
