Son of Michael Novak, Sr. and Jo Anna Kuznar Novak

Harold A. Novak, 65, died Aug. 15, 1998,at a Temple hospital after a  long battle with cancer. Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Augsut 18 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial will follow at China Spring Cemetery.  Masonic graveside services will be conducted.

He was born Aug. 2, 1933, in Minneapolis, Minn. to Jo Anna and Michael Novak,  Sr., who preceded him in death.  He was a resident of Waco and a commercial brick mason (Novak Masonry).  He was a member of Speegleville United Methodist church,Waco Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite of Freemasonry and Karem Temple.  He enjoyed fishing, golfing and playing with his grandchildren.  He served his country in the Air Force from 1950 to 1957.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Novak; two sisters, Violet Wendt and Lillian Shaw; and a granddaughter, Abigail Ridling.

Survivors include his wife, Beth Houdersheldt Novak, three daughters, Pam Solomon and her husband, Stewart, of Tampa, Fla.; Jan Choat and her husband, Day, of Houston and Kim Tucker and her husband, Keith of Dallas; two step-daughters, Cindy Ridling and her husband, Mitch, of Waco and Mystie Houdersheldt of Waco; a stepson Tommy Houdersheldt and his wife, Joley, of Waco; nine grandchildren, Tiffany and Krystal Choat, Brooke, Brandi and Blake Tucker; Erin and Shelby Houdresheldt, and Spencer  and Jake Ridling; a brother, Edward Novak of Dallas; two sisters, Rose LaTourneau and her husband, Jim, and Beverly DeWalt and her husband, Bob, of Minneapolis, Minn.; and a sister-in-law, Martha Novak of Roswell, N.Y.
