D. D. Parsons, 85, died Saturday, June 1, 2002, at a local hospital. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 3 at the China Spring Cemetery with the Rev. Paul Smith officiating.

Mr. Parsons was born Aug.31, 1916 in Sidney, Texas to Thomas Dalton and Dora Alice Lane Parsons.  He served in the United States Navy in WWII and was a self-employed carpenter.  He married Joy Dyer and will be remembered as a loving husband and father.  Mr. Parsons was a member of First Baptist church of China Spring, the V.F.W. and the Carpenter’s Union.  He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his wife, Joy Parsons; a son; Mike Parsons and wife, Joyce; a daughter, Jerry Talbert and husband, Gary, all of China Spring; grandchildren, Amy Talbert, Lane Talbert and Dena Abner; sisters, Nelday Hayes of College Station and Billie Wahl of Port Arthur; a brother, Grady Parsons of Ojai, Calif., brother-in-law,R. C. Dyer of Bandera and caring nephew, James LaRoque and wife, Sona, of Zethyr Hills, Fla.
