George David “Snook” Ray, 69, of China Spring, passed away Monday, Jan. 16, 2012, at a local hospital.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m., Friday, Jan. 20, at China Spring Cemetery with the Rev. Mark Griffin officiating. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 19, at Lake Shore Funeral Home, in Waco.

George David Ray was born in San Angelo, Texas, to the late A.B. Ray and Lela Virginia (Coates) Ray, and moved with his family to Waco at an early age. He married Shirley Martin on Aug. 25, 1961, in Arlington, and worked as a concrete contractor all of his working life. Mr. Ray adored his family, especially his children and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Billy Ray and Gene Ray.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Shirley Ray, of China Spring; daughters, Karen Seymour and husband, Bobby, of Goldthwaite, and Susan Dominguez and husband, Alex, of Bosqueville; son, David Ray and wife, LeeAnn, of China Spring; grandchildren, C.J. Lynch and Kourtney, Charly Ann Lynch and Taylor Williams, Shayna and Toby Bowers, Emily Ray, Ryan Ray, Michelle Dominguez and Britt Dominguez; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Patsy “Sissy” Mercer and husband, Billy, of China Spring, and Peggy Gunter and husband, Lex, of Troy; and many other relatives and friends.
