Miss Claire A. Smith, 80, of China Spring, a longtime China Spring resident, died Monday at a local hospital.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at China Spring United Methodist Church, the Rev. Terry Nelson officiating.  Burial will be at China Spring Cemetery.

Miss Smith was born March 23, 1903, in China Spring and attended local schools and Southwest Texas State University.

She was employed by Lone Star Gas Co., retiring in 1968, and was a Methodist.

Survivors include a sister, Kathleen Talbert of China Spring.

The family has designated China Spring United Methodist Church for memorials.
