A. Y. Carpenter, 64, died at 10:30 p.m. Friday in a local hospital. He was a resident of China Spring.

Funeral services will be held at the China Spring Methodist Church at 3 p.m. Sunday, Rev. C. E. Wade officiating, burial in China Spring Cemetery.

Survivors include his widow of China Spring; three sons, Coke Carpenter and Addis Carpenter, both of China Spring, and Homer Carpenter of Dallas; three daughters, Mrs. C.A. Rozelle, Mrs. Ruby Saffle and Mrs. Jack Gilliam, all of China Spring; six brothers, David Clay Carpenter of Keensburg, Ill., James E. Carpenter of China Spring, John Henry Carpenter of Austin, Jacob Marvin Carpenter of Long Beach, Calif., Clarence A. Carpenter of San Antonio, and Edgar A. Carpenter of Lorena; two sisters, Mrs. F. T. (Annie) Webb and Mrs. Clarence E. (Abbie) Neal, both of Corpus Christi, and five grandchildren.

Active pallbearers: Ruel Hill, J.J. Talbert, Jr., Henry Ledenham, Oscar Payne, V. A. Crawford, and Roy Toten.
