Daughter of Ben and Mattie Andrews. Her parents divorced before 1910 according to census records.

Mrs. A. Y. (Mittie) Carpenter of China Spring died Friday morning in a local
hospital. She was 87.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. today at Wilkirson Hatch Chapel, the Rev. Bob Wimberly officiating. Burial wil be in China Spring Cemetery.
Mrs. Carpenter was born in Milam County. She married A. Y. Carpenter in January 1914. He died in 1947.
Mrs. Carpenter worked as a seamstress for Clifton Manufacturing Co. during World War II. She was a member of First Baptist Church of China Spring.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Ruby Saffle of Waco and Mrs. R. D. Gilliam of China Spring; two sons, Coke Carpenter and Addis Carpenter, both of China Spring; a brother, Wiley J. Andrews of Temple; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
