C. W. Burt, Sr., 78, died at his home in Penelope Tuesday at 9:35 a.m.  Funeral services will be held in Erath Baptist church Wednesday at 4 p.m., with Rev Noel Guice and Rev. Mr. Jones officiating, interment in  China Spring cemetery.  Aderhold funeral directors in charge.

He is survived by his widow; four daughters, Mrs. Dora Carter of Penelope, Rosa Klein of Austin, Eva Goldston of Clarendon, Jessie Webb of Kaufman; eight sons; Sam of Dallas, Charlie of China Spring, Frank of California, Tom of Waco, Joe and Leslie of Aquilla, Henry and Howard Burt of Kaufman; 30 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Burt was born in Mississippi in 1854, coming to Texas in 1883, where he lived at China Spring until 10 years ago.
