Carl L. DeHay, 79, of Hewitt died Sunday in a Waco hospital.
Funeral services were to be at 4 p.m. today in Wilkirson and Hatch Chapel, Rev. Roy Johnson was to officiate with burial in China Spring Cemetery.
Mr. DeHay was born in Waco and was a lifelong resident of McLennan County. He was the son of Mr. & Mrs. Sam DeHay.
His grandfather, B. T. DeHay settled on the Bosque River at the site of the old DeHay Bridge over 100 years ago. The original farm was owned by the DeHay family until it was taken for part of the new Lake Waco.
Mr. DeHay moved to Hewitt in 1949.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Ruby Crump of Dallas, Mrs. Ruth O’Connor of San Francisco, Calif. and Mrs. Johnnie Dennis of Hewitt; a son, Sam DeHay of Hewitt; a sister, Mrs. Owen Davis; three brothers, Lee DeHay, Dow DeHay, and Lyle DeHay; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
