Jewel A. Ferguson Butler, 77, of Speegleville, passed away Saturday, Feb. 5, 2011, at her residence. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 8, at Lake Shore Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mark Griffin officiating. Burial will follow at China Spring Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 7, at Lake Shore Funeral Home, Waco. Mrs. Butler will be available for public viewing Monday and Tuesday.

Jewel was born in China Spring, Texas, to the late Ernest S. and Lola Mae (Tate) Ferguson, Sr. She married Philip L. Butler on April 2, 1949, in Waco. Jewel had been an area business owner for many years, and was a member of Ridin’ High Cowboy Church at Rock Creek in China Spring.

She was preceded in death by eight brothers; and five sisters.

Survivors include husband of 61 years, Philip L. Butler, of Speegleville; daughters, Katherine Nabors and husband, Lany, of Speegleville, and Darla DiCorte and husband, Mark, of China Spring; sons, Lynn Wayne Butler and wife, Elvira, of Cranfils Gap, Steven P. Butler and wife, Teresa, of Austin, and Michael S. Butler and wife, Janice, of McGregor; grandchildren, Stephen Butler, Lisa Finley, Rene Coronado, Phillip Butler, Maria Newman, Brandi Patterson, David J. Butler, LeeAnn Rodgers, Tracy DeAngelo, Tina Cruz, Tayanna Seniceros, Khristie Bowery, Cory Nabors, Kyla Leslie, Misty Bitner, and Jessica DiCorte; 36 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; sister, Margaret Crowdis and husband, Russell, of Fort Worth; and numerous other relatives.
