Funeral services for Edward Eugene (Gene) Autrey, Jr., 58, of China Spring will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Wilkirson-Hatch Chapel, the Rev. Walter F. Albers officiating. Burial will be at China Spring Cemetery.

Mr. Autrey died Wednesday at his residence.

He was born Jan. 28, 1926 in Gatesville where he attended school. He served in the Navy in World War II and married Evie Bryant on May 9, 1964. He was a truck drive for most of his life and drove for L.L. Sams & Sons for many years. He was a Baptist.

Survivors included his wife; mother, Mrs. Essie Autrey of Gatesville; three daughters, Sandra Richards of Bakersfield, Calif., Bettye Springer of China Spring and Linda Moore of Waco; three sons, Mike Autrey and Terry Autrey, both of Phelan, Calif., and James Jordan of Waco; five sisters, Vera Potter of Lubbock, Era Hold and Opal Dyer, both of Gatesville, Madie Clary of Lampasas and Essie Middleton of Elm Mott; one brother, Claude Autrey of Temple; 13 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
