David Robert Byrd, 73, of Waco, passed away Friday, June 12, 2009, at a Temple Hospital. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Thursday, June 18, at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, with the Rev. Frank Mangum officiating. Burial will follow at China Spring Cemetery. The family will receive visitors 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 17, at the funeral home.
David was born in Adrian, Mich., to Frank P. and Vivian Byrd. He was a member of the American Legion 121, VFW 2148, and AMVETS 41. He served as acting president of Blinded Veterans Association, and Good Sam’s Club-Roadrunner Waco Chapter. David retired as a Warrant Officer from the U.S. Army. David was a loving, caring husband, father, brother, and everyone’s friend.
He is preceded in death his son, Alvin Byrd; and father, Frank P. Byrd; and mother, Vivian Jackson.
He is survived by his loving wife, Linda Byrd; son, Larry Clark and wife, Janet; grandchildren Brittney, Corey, Amy, Hayden, Ashley and Tiffany; great-grandchildren, Mason and Micah Heijl, and Paige Byrd; his dad, A. E. Jackson; brothers, Mike and Tom Jackson; sisters, Nina, Becky and Inez Clingaman; and many other family members and friends.
