Lillian Ernestine Carpenter, 89, passed away Monday, January 15, 2007 at a local hospital. Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, January 20, 2007 at Wilkirson Hatch Bailey garden room with Rev. Pamela Dykehouse officiating. Burial will follow at China Spring Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, January 19th at the funeral home.

Lillian was born in the vanished community of Wortham Bend, Texas, to the late William Ernest and Ethel Marie Wallace. She was raised in the Wortham Bend/China Spring area and graduated from Waco High School in 1935. She married A. M. “Buck” Carpenter on December 24, 1937. Lillian graduated from Johnson’s Beauty School in 1945 and worked for 36 years as a hairdresser. She spent 30 of those years working for Pearl Landrum at Landrum’s Beauty Shop. When it closed in 1979, she moved around the corner to Lenial’s Beauty Shop for another year and a half, retiring in September 1980. She loved gardening and cooking and had complete trust in her Lord. She especially looked forward to Sunday lunches with family the last 4 years of her life.

She was preceded in death by her dear husband, Buck, in August, 1993; brothers, Bobby Wallace in September, 1994, and Harold (Pete) Wallace in October, 2002.

She is survived by her niece, Teresa Dickenson and husband, Dale, and their sons, Drew and Jarrod; nephews, David Mark Wallace, of Dallas and Mike Morgan and wife, Barbara, of Rockwall; sister-in-law, Mary Kepler, of Houston and her daughter, Kay Bonner and husband, Tucker, of Temple; as well as other cousins; dear friends, who were like family to her, are Bill and Alice Mitchell and their daughter, Natasha Franco; and her other wonderful neighbors.
