Funeral services for Herman Eichelberger, 51. fatally injured by a fish, will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday at his hom near Eichelberger’s crossing on the Bosque River, Rev. Alfred G. Brown officiating, burial in China Spring cemetery.
Mr. Eichelberger died at 8 a.m. Friday after having been unconscious since shortly after he was struck by a gar while fishing in the Brazos on Tuesday. Standing in water up to his neck, Mr. Eichelberger was struck in the right eye by the fish, the eye socket and into his brain. Internal bleeding formed a clot on his brain, which resulted first in the loss of consciousness and then in paralysis of his entire left side.
Surviving are his widow; four brothers, William A. and Charles S. Eichelberger of Waco, S. C Eichelberger of Ocee and Hugh Eichelberger of China Spring; two children, Paul and Hallie Marie Eichelberger.
Pallbearers will be Sam Talbert, C.B. Rowton, J.W. Higginbotham, L. D. Smith, R. Coke Mills, George E. Wolfe, Lee Holloway and William McLennan.
