E. C. Hammons, 61, of China Spring died Friday afternoon in a local hospital after a long illness.
Funeral services: 10 a.m. Monday at Wilkirson-Hatch Funeral Home.
Mr. Hammons was born in Hill County. He attended schools in Waco, Hill County, Oklahoma and Arkansas. He lived in Waco for 50 years. He was a diesel mechanic. Mr. Hammons was a member of the Pentecostal Church.
Survivors include six daughters, Mrs. Evelyn Boyd, Mrs. Carol Reece, Mrs. Loretta Phillips, all of Houston, Mrs. Gayle Hand of Henderson, Mrs. Kathy Strickland of Bellville and Mrs. Cynthia Prethro of Houston; and three stepsons, Jack Jones, Jim Jones and Leslie Jones, all of China Spring; three sisters, Mrs. Zora Caruthers and Mrs. Avis Johnson, both of Dallas, and Mrs. Evie Saffle of Waco; one brother, Cecil Hammons of Dallas; four step-brothers, Jack Buckner, Leonard Buckner and Lorenzo Buckner, all of Waco and Clifford Buckner of Houston; four hal-brothers, Garland Buckner, Bobby Buckner, Kenneth Buckner and Aubrey Buckner, all of Waco, and several grandchildren.
