John S. Harvey, 68 of China Spring, died Wednesday at his home.
Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church of China Spring, the Rev. Liebert Armour and the Rev. Don Durham officiating. Burial will be in China Spring Cemetery.
Mr. Harvey was born June 23, 1915 in China Spring and attended schools there. He was married to Bernice Holze in 1941.
Mr. Harvey was ordained as a deacon at Seventh and James Baptist Church in 1944 and had been a deacon at First Baptist Church of China Spring since 1945. He was a Sunday School Director for 31 years and a member of the China Spring school board for 12 years.
Mr. Harvey founded Double Circle Co-op in 1972 and was its president and a director. He retired in 1982.
He was awarded the Conservation Farmer of the Year Award in 1982.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Patricia Harvey and Cindy Harvey, both of China Spring; two sons, James W. Harvey and Steven M. Harvey, both of China Spring; four brothers, Ralph Harvey of Macon, Miss., Raymond Harvey of China Spring, Eugene Harvey of San Antonio and Harold Harvey of Baltimore, MD.
