Charles Melvin (Shorty) Jennings, 85, of Waco, a longtime independent truck driver, died Sunday at a local hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Regis Chapel. Burial will be at China Spring Cemetery.
Mr. Jennings was born Sept. 5, 1897, in Waxahachie and attended local schools. He was married to Lydia Bell Curd in 1918 and was a Baptist.
Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Nina Parks of Lubbock, Mrs. Charlsie Lassetter of Lake Mexia, Mrs. Billie Peavy of Granbury and Mrs. Bobbye Middleton of Moore, OK., three sons, James Bryan Jennings of Shepherd, Jack Jennings of Waco, and Larry Jennings of Clifton; three sisters, Mrs. Ethel McNeil of Abilene, Mrs. Lola Freeman of Midland and Mrs. Mabel Kirk of Odessa; a brother, J.D. Jennings of Odessa; and 20 grandchildren.
