W. M. “Dubb” Lewis, Jr. 88, of China Spring, passed away on Friday, Dec. 30, 2005, at a local care center.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3 at OakCrest Funeral Home with Rev. Curtis Holland officiating. Military graveside rites will follow at China Spring Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at OakCrest Funeral Home.

Dubb was born Aug. 26, 1917 in Tupelo, Miss. to William Marvin Sr. and Florence Lou Cook Lewis. He married the love of his life, Billie Honea, on July 2, 1949 in Waco, Dubb was a WWII veteran, having served his country in the Army Air Force in Northern Africa and Italy. Dubb retired from the U.S. Air Force after serving 23 years; he was proud of his county and very patriotic. Later he and Billie owned and operated a grocery store in Golinda.

He is survived by his wife, Billie of China Spring; sons, Larry T. Lewis and wife, Gloria of San Antonio, William M. Lewis III and wife Nan of El Paso and Clinton W. Lewis and wife Anne of Beaumont; daughter, Carla Ramon and husband, Maurice of China Spring; 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; sisters, Pauline Clouse of Bakersfield, Calif and Winnifred McEwan of Lake Forest, Calif; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Pallbearers will be the U.S. Air Force and all the grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers.
