Charles M. Lindsey, 77, of China Spring, passed away Sunday, December 9, 2012, at his residence. Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, December 12, at Lake Shore Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Curtis Holland officiating. A private burial will follow at China Spring Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, December 11, at Lake Shore Funeral Home.

Charles was born in Waco, Texas, to the late George M & Reba(Pack) Lindsey. He graduated from Waco Tech in 1954. Charles met and later married Minnie P. Bird on March 24, 1956. Charles served two years in the U.S. Army and returned to the Waco area to begin his career in Dairy Farming. During the course of his years he also served on many committees and boards. He served as a Deacon to the First Baptist Church of China Spring and Grace Baptist Church of China Spring. After retirement, he spent many years working part time at the H.O.T. Fairgrounds with many friends and coworkers. He never met a stranger. He loved life and made everyone he met feel special. He was an avid sports fan. He played an active part in the lives of his children and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Martha Lindsey Barlow.

Survivors include wife of 56 years, Minnie, of China Spring; daughters, Linda Matthijetz, of Waco, Sandra Soileau and husband, Nick, of Addis, LA, and Charleen Hall and husband, Clayton ,of China Spring; son, George Lindsey and partner, Greg Holland, of China Spring; granddaughters, Lindsey Harris and husband, Jared, of College Station, Christie Spohn and husband, Frank, of Baton Rouge, LA, Rebecca Lousteau and fiancé, Jason Breaux, of Baton Rouge, LA, Marki Landry and husband, Brian, of Donaldsonville, LA, Sarah Matthijetz, of College Station, and Kayla Schwerthner and husband, Grant, of Midland; grandson, Justin Coleman and wife, Shea, of Mountain Home, ID; great-granddaughter, Lily Spohn, of Baton Rouge, LA; sister, Dorthy Scott and husband, Bill, of Waco; and other relatives and many friends.
