Vera Earl Bryant Prause, 99, a rancher and homemaker of Valley Mills, died Monday at a West nursing home. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 29 at Wortham Bend Oak Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Richard Sellars officiating. Interment will be at China Spring Cemetery.

Mrs. Prause was born March 10, 1900 in Greenock, Texas. She was the daughter of Madison Earl and Emma Culp Bryant. She attend Greenock school. She lived and ranched on the same place all her life. The ranch her family owned was awarded the Texas Century Ranch Certificate in 1969. Vera married J. L. (Dutch) Prause on February 7, 1928 in Waco. He preceded her in death in 1983.

She attended Wortham Bend Oak Grove Baptist Church and later Fairview Baptist Church. She was an avid gardener and homemaker. She gave much love and support to her family and was always willing to help her neighbors and friends.

She was preceded in death by four children, Dallas Gilbert Prause, Sammy Neland Prause, Danny Douglas Prause and Mavis Otillas Reible. Birth records indicate a little girl, Luelane Prause was born to them as a twin to Sammy and she died at birth.

Survivors: two sons, David C. Prause and his wife, Jean of China Spring and James L. Prause and his wife Nelda of Aquilla; three daughters, Naida Yarbrough and her husband Rex, of Waco, Vera Alvena Pocock and her husband, Nick of China Spring and Gloria Jane Helleson and her husband, Jimmy Joe of Waco; 23 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren and 18 great-great-grandchildren.
