Myrlene Roberts, 79, of Waco died peacefully in her sleep at 9:33pm Thursday, June 16, 2011, at her residence with her loving son, Jackie Wayne McDow, her daughter, Nancy Sue, and grandson Joseph at her side.

Graveside services will be 10:00 am, Tuesday, June 21, at China Spring Cemetery with Keven Avery officiating. Burial will follow at China Spring Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held at 98 River Edge following the service. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 pm, Monday June 20, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Garden Room.

Myrlene was born November 30, 1921 in Cameron, Texas, to Riley Hunt Whittington and Eva Bell Whittington. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend. She grew up with one sister, Helen, and three brothers, Riley, Mose and Irving, all of whom have preceded her in death.

She was well known for the many night clubs she owned in McLennan and Bell counties including Buddy Moore’s Western Club, with numerous others throughout the years.

Myrlene was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Ray Roberts, who was the love of her life. Ray was the previous owner of the Showtime Club.

She raised five children and had two stepsons; Jackie Wayne McDow, Nancy Sue and fiance Tracy Wilson; Pat Sharpless and husband, Wayne, Betty
Campbell and husband, Ernie; Sandy Hays and husband, Wes; Keith Roberts, Randy Roberts and wife Terri. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Joseph Brooks, Nicole McDow, Tiffany Daughtry, Kristy Feriet-Helton, Ray Balli, Tyler Balli, Mat, Rhonda and Roger Hays, April and Randy Roberts, Ashley Roberts and Jeramie, Shelley and Tonja Bledsoe; and 17 great grandchildren; a loving sister in law, Bobbi Whittington; and many nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to express their appreciation to Texas Home Health Hospice who cared for Myrlene in her final days, with special thanks to Shawn Shaffer, RN, Sharon Evans and Lori McKee.
