THE PARIS NEWS, TUESDAY, MARCH 5, 2013, PAGE 3 – Ruby Carpenter Saffle, 98, passed from this life on Sunday, March 3, 2013, in Paris.

Starrett Funeral Home will conduct graveside rites at 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 7, in China Spring Cemetery, McLennan County, with the Rev. Michael Copeland officiating. A reception will follow at First Baptist Church of China Spring. A time of visitation will be held at Wilkerson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home in Waco from 11 a.m. to noon, prior to the service.

Mrs. Saffle was Worthy Matron of Walter Baldwin Chapter, the Order of the Eastern Star of Waco, in the mid-seventies. In 2005, she was President of the Berean Bible Club of the First Bible Church. She was a life-long Baptist.

Ruby was born in China Spring on Dec. 8, 1914.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Mittie Carpenter; a sister, Attie Lee Gilliam; and brothers, Coke, Homer and Addis Carpenter.

She is survived by her sons, Jack Saffle and his wife, Barbara, of Dallas and Bob Saffle and his wife, Judye, of Paris; niece, Becky Lindsey; and nephew, Dale Gilliam, of Waco. She was blessed with seven grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She will be missed by her loving family.
