Edgar Lee “Edo” Sanders, 79, of Woodway, passed away Monday, October 30, 2006, at a local nursing home.

Graveside services will be at  10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 3, at China Spring Cemetery.  Visitation with family and friends will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 2, at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors.

Edo was born Dec. 30, 1926, in Waco, to Luther and Myrtle (Lewallen) Sanders. He married “the most beautiful girl in Waco High”, Lola “Sissy” Pringle on July 25, 1947. He served in the U.S. Navy as a gunner during World War II, was a lifetime member of all Veterans Organizations, and a Mason and Shriner. He retired from Rocketdyne in 1976. The greatest joy of his life was being surrounded by this family and playing cards and dominoes with his friends. He was the most generous and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Edo was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his best friend, love of his life and wife of 59 years, Lola “Sissy” Sanders; daughter, Rene Masiongale and husband, Jim, of Woodway; brothers, Billy Glenn Sanders, of Woodway, and J.B. Sanders, of Denver, Colo.; granddaughters, Micah Ashford and husband, Bryan, and Dejon Pruitt; great-grandchildren, Ashlee Brock, Brielle Pruitt, Isaiah Pruitt and Addie Ashford; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Honorary pallbearers are Garland “Dele” DeLamar, Wilburn  Winklemann and Russell Wilson.

The family extends a special thanks to Providence Health Center, St. Catherine Center and staff, Hospice, Blue Bonnett Home Health Care, Dr. Charles “Daddy” Schultz and the MAN UP STAIRS for giving him 20 extra years.

The family requests memorials bemade to the American Heart Assoc., Waco Branch, or your favorite charity.
