Billy Ray Simons Sr., 66, of Robinson, passed away Monday, Dec. 5, 2011, at his residence.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 8, at Lake Shore Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tom Warnock officiating. Burial will follow at China Spring Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 7, at Lake Shore Funeral Home.

Billy was born in Waco, Texas, to the late Bill and Helen (Ward) Simons. He graduated from Angleton High School in 1961. Billy married Ginger Brown on October 12, 1962 in Waco. He served as Police Chief in Northcrest for over five years. Billy then worked for McLennan County Sheriff’s Office for 13 years, retiring in 1983 as Sergeant. At the time of his death, Billy had owned and operated Big Boy’s Wrecker Service for 26 years. He also served as Mayor of Robinson for eight years. Billy was a member of Old West Cowboy Church in Robinson.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Melissa Simons; and a brother, Bennie Simons.

Survivors include wife of 49 years, Ginger, of Robinson; sons, Billy Ray Simons, Jr., of Robinson, and John Simons and wife, Sandy, of Robinson; daughter, Kimberly Price and husband, Charles, of Robinson; grandchildren, Tara Harmon and husband, James, Chandler Simons, Ashley Vrba and husband, Aaron, Trinity Price, Jordan Price, Maliah Price, Chris Cogburn and wife, Crystal, and Brad Cogburn; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Pamela Batey, of Waco; and brother, Lynn Simons, of China Spring; and many other family members and friends.
