Funeral services for E. K.(Kirby) Smith, 69, who died at his home in China Spring at 7:45 a.m. Friday, will be held from the Methodist Church in  China Spring at 3:3o p.m., Saturday, Rev. C. E. Simpson officiating, burial in China Spring Cemetery.  Wilkirson-Hatch in charge.

A central Texas pioneer, Mr. Smith was born in Milam county Aug. 19, 1864, moving to McLennan county in 1882 and making his home here since.  In 1892, he married Miss Cora Foster, who survives him.  Other survivors are six children, all of China Spring; Mrs. Lynn L. Kennedy, Mrs. Cam Talbert, Miss Edwina Smith, Wheeler L. Smith, Claire Smith, Miss Pauline Smith; six grandchildren; two brothers, P. ? Smith of China Spring and W. T. Smith of Cameron.  Pallbearers will be R. M.  and E. L. Null, W. L. and F. L. Johnson, R. E. Thomas, Will Talbert, A. M. Humberson. T. W. Foster.  Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Jas. B. Knight, E.K. Maury.
