Wheeler L. Smith, 78, of China Spring died Wednesday morning in a Clifton hospital.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday in Wilkirson and Hatch Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. Hoyt Hunnicutt officiating. Burial will be in China Spring Cemetery.
Mr. Smith was born in China Spring, where he attended school, and was a 50 year member of the Masonic lodge. He was a retired 33-year employee of Gulf Oil Co., serving as a service station installer.
Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Mrs. W. A. Walker of Refugio, and Mrs. Floyd Dekle, both of China Spring; one son, Kirby Smith of Dallas; three sisters, Miss Edwina Smith, Miss Claire Smith and Mrs. C.M. Talbert, all of China Spring; nine grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Active pallbearers: Cameron Talbert, Lynn Kennedy, Kirby Darnall, Monte Grayson, Billy Mac Crawford and Dana Crawford.
