Ben (Bennie Mack) Yankie, 59, of Purdon, a China Spring native, died Saturday in Purdon.
Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Corley Funeral Home Chapel in Corsicana, the Rev. David Hale and the Rev. Earl Lanting officiating. Graveside services wil be 2 p.m. at China Spring Cemetery in China Spring.
Mr. Yankie was born April 15, 1934 in China Spring where he was reared and educated. He was the son of W. M. & Mattie Lee Grayson Yankie. He attended China Spring schools and graduated from Waco High School. He served his country in the U.S. Army at Ft. Hood and in Germany. He was a Baptist. He was preceded in death by a brother, Warren Alvin Yankie and a devoted uncles, H. A. “Boots” Yankie of China Spring.
Survivors include his wife, Mary V. Yankie; son, Thomas Lee Yankie of Mildred; stepson, Desi John Castillo of Corsicana; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Mike (Anna Maria) Hambrick of Corsicana and Mrs. Steve (Patty) McCormick of Dawson; and three grandchildren.
