John was united in marriage to the love of his life, Joanna McCrary on May 7, 1995. He enjoyed many trips on his motorcycle to Daytona, Sturgis, the Natchez Trace, Colorado, the Pacific Northwest, the Bonneville Salt Flats, and of course to the Texas Hill Country. Along their faith journey, they visited Belize in 2013 with 10th Leper and Israel in 2019.

John served as the sound engineer and road manager for 10th Leper, a Waco based Christian Rock and Blues band. Some of his greatest joys were the weekends the band played at Church Under the Bridge, Blessing of the Bikes and toy runs benefiting Project Angel Tree and Ride for the Troops.

John is survived by his wife of 26 years, Joanna Duncan; his parents, Thomas and Patricia Duncan of Pharr, Texas; brother, Jim Duncan and wife, Ruth of Waco; nephews, Dennis Duncan of Denver and Leonard Duncan of Chicago; niece, Elizabeth and husband, Ryan of Virginia; and great-nieces, Gianna, Star, and Abigail and great-nephew, Andrew. John is also survived by many co-workers and biker friends. John and Joanna are Papa John and Mama Jo to a number of God children who were impacted by their involvement in their lives.
