Virgil Randolph Heine, 80, of Hubbard, Texas passed away on May 14, 2022. Graveside services for a life well lived will be held in China Spring Cemetery where he will be interred with his dearly beloved wife, Linda Ruth Lamb Heine.
Virgil Randolph Heine was born to John Heine and Esther Olga Heine on March 14, 1942. He was the eldest of their four children and he took that position with pride and responsibility. As a child in a military family he traveled a lot in his early years. He loved spending time on his grandfather’s farm and spending time with his siblings, William (Bill), Elizabeth, and Patricia.
Virgil was beloved by many friends whom he kept up with throughout the years and was known as a loyal son, brother, father, grandfather, and friend, He took great pride in good work and a job well done and was a passionate drag race enthusiast. He drove a ’65 GTO which was his pride and joy outside of his people and longed for the day he would have a red corvette. He was a traveler and the driver of our family, loved taking road trips, driving off the beaten path and talked always of racing his vehicles. He was humble and would probably disagree with us, but he truly was the rock of our family. He believed in and exemplified a strong sense of family, faith, and friendship.
In 1972, Virgil married the love of his life with whom he celebrated more than 50 years. They had 3 children, Lara, Lyssa, and Stephen. Virgil adored his family, began his own automotive repair business, but ultimately settled into a job at the local post office to provide for his family. He never stopped being a shade tree mechanic and made many memories with his kids and those of the neighborhood in his shop out back – bleeding brakes, opening carburetor intakes, and rebuilding Stephens’s (and his friend’s) trucks. Virgil was a teacher and a learner and instilled that love in his kids.
In 2008, with grown kids, Virgil and Linda set out to find the place where they would build their dream house. They took weekend and day long trips to the country towns in the Central Texas area. After several trips and considering a location close to Linda’s family in Hillsboro and China Spring, they settled on Hubbard, Texas. In Hubbard, they found their ideal plot of land on which to build their home (and garage/shop). Virgil worked around town until his retirement a few years later.
Virgil has been preceded in death by his dearly beloved wife, Linda Ruth Lamb Heine, grandmother and grandfather, his father, John Heine, and his mother, Esther Olga Heine.
He is survived by his daughters, Lara B. Heine and Lyssa D. Heine, of Austin; his son, Stephen L. Heine, of Austin, and Stephens’s two children, Virgil’s grandchildren, Rachel Heine and Brandon Heine. He is also survived by brother, William Heine and wife, Pam, sister, Elizabeth Francis and husban, Don, sister, Patricia Ann Daniell and husband, Barry, niece, Debbie Dobson and husband, Bryan, as well as nieces and nephews, Billy Heine, Colleen Golla, Candace Wallner, Suzanne Camos, and Randi Daniell.
